UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help got back at Letran in a big way, grinding out an 88-82 overtime victory in the second round of the NCAA Season 93 on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The win got the Altas back on track on their hunt for a semifinal spot as they improved to 4-6, just a game behind the fourth-running Knights at 5-5.

The Altas were poised to win in regulation as they led by three with 14 seconds to go and the Knights out of timeouts.

But Bong Quinto produced clutch plays on both ends, draining a tightly contested three pointer to tie the game at 75 with 4.4 seconds to go before forcing Gab Dagangon to a wild jumper on the other end.

The Altas however were undeterred as they rode Dagangon and Eze's steady hands in the extension, while choking Letran on defense to finish off the job that they couldn't end in regulation.

Back to back jumpers by the two to sandwich a JP Calvo split at the line gave the Altas an 84-78 lead with 40 seconds left.

"Simple lang naman ang ginawa namin, walang pressure. We play na walang pressure. Free-wheel na. Walang hesistant, especially in offense," said Perpetual Help coach Jimwell Gican.

"Gusto ko i-credit ang panalo sa mga players kasi nagtiwala sila sa sistema.. ang outcome is panalo. Kino-congratulate ko yung mga players sa effort na ginawa nila today," he added.

Eze continued to flash his MVP form with 21 points on 7-11 shooting from the field, while falling just a board short of another 20 rebound game.

Dagangon also finished with 21 points as GJ Ylagan added 18 markers while going 4-for-7 from the three point area.

Calvo paced the Knights with 21 points and seven rebounds, Rey Nambatac added 15 points and 12 boards as Quinto also chipped in 15 for the Knights which now dropped their second straight game after winning four in a row.
