EMILIO Aguinaldo College finally notched its first win in Season 91 of the NCAA seniors basketball tournament after shocking San Sebastian, 77-71, on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.

Laminou Hamadou had 18 points and 12 reounds while Sidney Onwubere added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Generals, who finally won after five games.

“Parang fiesta ngayon sa EAC,” said Generals coach Andy De Guzman as he savored his first win as college coach.

Francis Munsayac added 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals for the Generals, who De Guzman said took a one-day break from practice this week in order to talk about what was lacking in the team.

“Nag-device kami ng mga plays sa crucial (moments) kasi doon kami nadadali. Marami kaming mga bad habits kaya may isang araw kami na hindi nag-practice para lang mapag-usapan ‘yung mga bad habits,” said De Guzman.

The pep talk worked as the Generals were able to keep their slim lead in the fourth period.

“Ganito pala ang feeling,” said De Guzman, who took over the reigns from Gerry Esplana.

Michael Calisaan had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Stags, who dropped to a 1-5 win-loss slate.
