JOSE Rizal University got back to its winning ways in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup as it demolished University of Perpetual Help, 70-56 on Friday in San Juan.

Coming off a 95-87 defeat at the hands of the Lyceum Pirates last Monday, the Heavy Bombers vented their ire on a fellow NCAA school to claim their fourth win in five games.

Defense was the battlecry of the boys of coach Vergel Meneses as they smothered the Altas on the way to the wire-to-wire victory.

"Coming from a loss, at least we showed we can bounce back. (Sa) second half, I'm happy with the defense, our effort was there," said Meneses, adding his team lapsed into complacency after beating reigning UAAP champion La Salle.

"They thought na they can beat anybody after defeating, sabihin na natin, yung number one collegiate team in the Philippines. They thought na parehas na lang every game. It's a difference system, iba yung pressure. Kailangan nilang masanay dun," Meneses said.

Tey Teodoro led the Heavy Bombers on offense with 19 points built around five three pointers. Ervin Grospe added 12 while Abdoul Poutouchi had 16 boards, five assists to go along with nine points.

Gj Ylagan was the only Altas player in double digits with 13 markers.

The Altas fell to 2-3.
