SAN Beda got back to its winning ways with an 82-64 rout of College of Saint Benilde on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Red Lions began the second round on a high note, improving their record to 9-1 following their loss to Jose Rizal University last week.

Donald Tankoua had 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Red Lions kept the Blazers winless in 10 tries.

St. Benilde is a loss away from matching their 2004 start.

Davon Potts added 15 points while Dan Sara chipped in 11 points for the Red Lions, who trailed by six, 20-14, at the end of the first quarter before taking control in the second.

“We made a lot of mistakes because of the break. Too eager. But you can’t take away the effort of Benidle, they played well in the first half. We needed to dig deep and get into fourth gear to get the win,” San Beda coach Jamike Jarin said.

Carlo Young scored 15 points, while Christian Fajarito had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Blazers.
