DARELL Menina scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as Mapua defeated College of Saint Benilde, 77-72, on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Mapua upped its win-loss record to 11-6, keeping itself in the fight for s semifinal berth by tying the records of Perpetual Help and Jose Rizal University.

The Cardinals will end the elimination round against lowly Emilio Aguinaldo College on Friday in order to gain at least a playoff for a Final Four spot.

Allwell Oraeme had 15 points and 23 rebounds for the Cardinals, who led by as many as 14 points in the game after an 18-4 start before fending off CSB’s numerous bids to mount a comeback.

Mapua coach Atoy Co, however, was not satisfied with his wards' play especially in the first half.

“In the first two quarters, everybody wants to  shoot. Kng hindi kami tumakbo, baka may kalalagyan kami,” said Co.

CSB finished Season 91 with a 5-13 win-loss record with seven players including Jonathan Grey ending their collegiate careers.
