Escamis takes charge as Gozum fouls out and Red Robins force title decider with Greenies

CLINT Escamis took over in the fourth quarter as Mapua beat La Salle Greenhills, 91-81, on Thursday in Game Two of the NCAA Season 93 juniors basketball finals at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

NCAA Most Valuable Player Will Gozum fouled out with still 9:30 left, but Escamis took charge and scored 10 of his 25 points in the fourth as the reigning champion Red Robins forced a knockout game for the NCAA crown on Tuesday at the Big Dome.

Warren Bonifacio had 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Eric Jabel added 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Red Robins, who led by as many as 13 points.

LSGH was able to keep the game close with a 10-0 run midway through the third, and the score was tied at 67 entering the fourth.

With the Red Robins nursing a one-point lead, Escamis scored four in a 9-0 blast to give the Red Robins a 78-68 advantage.

Joel Cagulangan had 16 points and nine assists for the Greenies, who played without suspended big man Inand Fornilos following his ejection in Game One.
