SAN Beda once again gained a share of the lead in the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament with an 87-80 win over Lyceum on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

Art de la Cruz had 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals for the Red Lions, who are back in a tie with idle Letran with an 11-3 win-loss card.

The Knights can take the solo lead when they battle the Jose Rizal University Bombers on Friday.

San Beda bounced back from a loss to University of Perpetual Help, while Letran suffered a setback against Mapua on Tuesday.

“It’s nice of course when you come from a hard loss and you got a good effort from everybody,” said San Beda coach Jamike Jarin.

“That’s what coaching is all about. You try to give the best opportunity for everybody and give the kids exposure, go to the playoffs with everybody healthy and ready to play.”

The Red Lions saw a 20-point lead trimmed to 56-50 but held on.

Radge Tongco had 14 points, while Baser Amer had 12 points and five assists. Ola Adeogun had 11 points and nine rebounds for San Beda.

San Beda spoiled the efforts of Wilson Baltazar and Joseph Gabayni, who tallied 28 and 24 points, respectively, for the Pirates, who dropped to 3-12.
