ZACH Nicholls had 19 points including five three-pointers, Jiovani Jalalon added 13 points and 10 assists, and Arellano came away with an 85-73 win over College of Saint Benilde on Thursday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Chiefs snapped a two-game losing skid to improve their mark to 5-3 (win-loss), a timely confidence boost going into their match-up against reigning five-time champion San Beda.

“I was already expecting na last four games namin, at least makakuha kami ng one or two games. Talagang learning (experience) sa amin ‘yun. Pero against Benilde, hindi pa rin kami nag-kumpiyansa,” said Arellano coach Jerry Codinera.

Michael Salado added 11 points for the Chiefs, who will play the Red Lions on Tuesday to end first round hostilities.

The loss spoiled the effort of Jonathan Grey, who finished with a game-high 24 points for the Blazers.

St. Benilde wrapped up the first round with a 2-7 slate.
