PERPETUAL Help finally claimed its first win in NCAA Season 93, hacking out a pulsating 63-60 road win over host Mapua on Thursday in Intramuros.

AJ Coronel hit the big shots down the stretch, while Keith Pido had a crucial steal late as the Altas improved to 1-2 in the tournament.

The veteran Coronel strung together five quick points to put the Altas ahead for good, 60-56, with 1:12 left.

And with the game winding down, it was Pido's turn to shine defensively, as he stripped Estrella of the ball with 15 seconds left and the Cardinals down by just two, 62-60.

Prince Eze drained the marginal free throw for the Altas, as the Cardinals missed two threes with the clock winding down.

"Masaya, galing sa 0-2, lagi namin sinasabi na just keep working hard at magtiwala lang na kaya manalo. Ayun. This is it, home court pa. Sana magandang sign ito," said assistant coach Jimwell Gican.

"Talagang team effort. The rest of the team kahit maliit lang yung minutes, nagbigay talaga yung quality," he added.

Eze had a double-double for the Altas with 21 rebounds and 11 points.

Playing despite feeling under the weather, GJ Ylagan still led all scorers with 13, while Coronel and Daryl Singontiko had 10 markers apiece for the Altas.

Leo Gabo led the Cardinals with 12 points as Estrella was limited to just 11 points on 3-10 shooting.

The Cardinals also fell to 1-2 for the tournament, with NCAA on Tour hosts yet to win a match.

The Arellano Chiefs lost on their home floor to the visiting Cardinals last week.
