LYCEUM coach Topex Robinson stuck to the positives after the Pirates' unbeaten run in NCAA Season 94 came to a shock end following an 83-81 loss to Perpetual Help on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Pirates lost for the first time in 13 games this season - and first in 30 elimination games dating back to last season, but Robinson said he'd rather see the team suffer a letdown now than later in the playoffs.
“I’d rather learn the lesson of losing early than later. Good thing it happened now, I offer no excuse. Perpetual is the better team,” said Robinson.
Like Robinson, reigning MVP CJ Perez isn’t really sweating over the loss, saying that it’s better to learn from it now than to have little time to adjust just like last season.
“Sa tingin ko mas makakatulong 'to sa amin, mas matututo kami as a player and as an individual, mas maraming matutunan pa ang team,” he added.
For Robinson, it’s back to the drawing board.
“Perpetual was the better team this afternoon. Coach Frankie (Lim) really did a tremendous job in building the program. They’re gonna be a really good team. Like what I told them earlier, the sun will shine tomorrow so we have to focus on the next few games and just move forward,” Robinson said.
“Again I have to do a better job coaching. That’s the lesson for us.”
