LYCEUM head coach Topex Robinson cleared the air over the issue regarding Germy Mahinay’s transfer to University of Santo Tomas.
The soft-spoken Robinson admitted that he also had mistakes on his end and that Mahinay already reached out to him. He also got a call from assistant coach Nap Garcia immediately after Mahinay’s statements.
“We talked to him prior to him making the decision, In fairness naman kay Germy, he was apologizing to me. Coach Ayo was telling coach Nap, and told them to call me right away,” Robinson said.
“Nag-text nga ako sa kanya na please if you have a chance, come and see me. He's young and he's going to make mistakes,” he added.
Robinson added that he will never stand in the way if it meant a better future for his players and revealed that Tigers coach Aldin Ayo personally reached out to him to ask for Mahinay’s release.
“We are happy for him. To set the record straight, nagpaalam naman sa akin si coach Aldin. We had to give him up especially maganda yung opportunity na binigay sa kanya ng UST.”
