JOSE Rizal University star Teytey Teodoro gave credit to San Beda's stifling defense as the Heavy Bombers gunner was limited to six points in a loss to the Red Lions in NCAA Season 93 on Friday.
Teodoro shot 2-of-9 from the field and rode to the bench in the crucial minutes of the game as the Heavy Bombers lost, 65-60, to drop to 7-6.
Teodoro explained JRU coach Vergel Meneses was forced to sit him in the final stages of the match so that the Heavy Bombers could run their plays in the endgame.
"Kasi pag nasa loob ako, kapag nag-pick and roll ako, double (team) lagi," said Teodoro. "Ang gagawin ko lang, ipapasa ko 'yung bola."
Making matters worse, JRU was unable to get contributions from the other players particularly the bigs once Teodoro dishes the ball when he is double teamed.
"Sobrang nahirapan kami kasi 'yung mga big man namin, hindi naka-contribute. Medyo nag-struggle kami," said Teodoro.
Abdul Wahab Abdul Razak was the lone bright spot for the JRU bigs as he had 11 points and nine rebounds in the contest.
JRU could be in line for another Final Four match-up against San Beda as the Heavy Bombers currently occupy the third spot. The Heavy Bombers, though, are in for a tight race for that berth with Letran, Emilio Aguinaldo College, and San Sebastian breathing down their necks.
Teodoro, however, hopes for support from the bigs in the next games.
"Kung ganun lang din 'yung depensa namin, kung gumana 'yung big man namin, may pag-asa kaming manalo sa kanila," said Teodoro.
