SAN Sebastian ended its campaign in the NCAA Season 100 on a winning note by taking down reigning men’s champion San Beda, 79-70, in the final playdate of the eliminations Saturday at the Astrodome.
Raymart Escobido had a game-high 19 points and Paeng Are with 13 for the Stags, who finished with a 6-12 campaign under rookie coach Arvin Bonleon.
Already assured of a slot in the Final Four, the Red Lions hardly offered resistance and went through the motions of wrapping up their campaign which ended at 10-8.
San Beda actually finished tied with Lyceum with similar win-loss records, but earned the no. 3 seed by virtue of a superior quotient.
Bryan Sajonia led the Red Lions with 14 points.
The Red Lions now look forward to next week’s Final Four where they carry a twice-to-win disadvantage against no. 2 College of St. Benilde.
Top seed Mapua meanwhile, battles no. 4 Lyceum in the other semis pairing.
Both the Cardinals and Blazers carry a twice-to-beat advantage.
The Final Four is set on Nov. 23 at the Astrodome, with the Cardinals taking on the Pirates in the 1 p.m. opener, followed by the duel between the Blazers and the Red Lions.
