EMILIO Aguinaldo College team captain Sidney Onwubere is hoping to do much better after a double-double marred by nine turnovers in the General’s win over the College of St. Benilde Blazers on Friday.
Onwubere was a big support for Hamadou Laminou, who powered the Generals to a solid opening-match win.
Laminou had 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks, while Onwubere delivered 11 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
"Disappointed ako kahit panalo kami. As you can see I have nine turnovers so as their captain, as the leader of the team parang pangit nga yung nagkaroon ako ng nine turnovers," said the 6-foot-4 forward.

"Pagpasok ko nga, [dugout] gusto ko i-remind yung teammates ko, the whole team, that we shouldn't relax. Kasi we're leading as many as 21 points and then suddenly bababa ng ganun," he said.
Onwubere stressed the Generals need to play at a higher level against Letran on Tuesday.
"Hindi kami pwedeng makipaglaro sa ibang team ng ganun tulad ng San Beda at Letran. If we play like that na lamang kami ng 20, siguro sa San Beda at sa Letran saglit lang [mahahabol] 'yun. So may instant chance na pwede kaming matalo," Onwubere claimed.
"Sabi nga nina coach every game is important. If we want to make it to the final four every game is important," he added.
