    Generals defuse Bombers to move to fourth spot in NCAA Season 93

    EMILIO Aguinaldo College finally caught a big fish in the NCAA Season 93, outlasting the third-running Jose Rizal University, 88-84, in another thriller on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

    The win allowed the Generals to move to solo fourth with a 6-6 record, trailing just the third running Heavy Bombers with a 7-5 slate.

    The Generals went on a 13-3 run near the end of the match as they turned a 71-77 deficit to an 84-80 lead.

    Jerome Garcia and Jeric Diego spearheaded that EAC comeback late before Sydney Onwubere capped off the rally with two brilliant plays.

    Onwubere found Diego underneath with 1:24 left in the game to give the Generals the lead for good, 81-80 before he nailed the dagger three pointer with 57.4 seconds to go to take out the fight from the Bombers for good.

    "Wala akong masabi kundi thankful talaga sa Lord and sa mga players ko. They are doing their very best," said head coach Ariel Sison.

    "We tried to double on their bigs early, the problem there was they were able to hit their three-point shots. Sabi namin, we don't have to double anymore, let it be," he added.

    Onwubere fired in another huge game as he paced the Generals with 28 points and nine rebounds.

    Off a career game, Garcia continued to make damage for the Generals to finish with 16 points and three assists. Diego and Phillip Tampoc brought in significant energy to finish with 11 points apiece.

    Jed Mendoza paced the Heavy Bombers with 22 points while Tey Teodoro added 18 points and five assists.

    Teodoro however had three of his six turnovers in the final two minutes which proved to be costly for them.
