AFTER a winding road through the high school ranks, Ruzzel Del Poso has finally found his collegiate home in Shaw.

The sharpshooting guard has committed to Jose Rizal University, marking the latest chapter in a journey filled with detours, setbacks, and persistence.

Del Poso last suited up for Mapua’s juniors team in NCAA Season 100, where he established himself as one of the squad’s reliable perimeter threats.

Following his stint with the Red Robins, he transferred to the University of Santo Tomas, but eligibility issues prevented him from seeing action during the Tiger Cubs' title defense.

His path then led him to JRU, though he was again unable to take the floor at the juniors level. Now, after years of waiting for his next opportunity, Del Poso is finally set to don the Heavy Bombers colors in the collegiate ranks.

Despite the challenges, the Bulacan native never stopped proving his worth on the court.

He first showcased his scoring ability at the NBTC 2024 National Finals with 1San Rafael Bulacan before reemerging as one of the tournament’s most prolific scorers in NBTC 2026 with D’Generals x Dynamix Creative.

In the Wildcard round, he averaged 17.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game en route to a runner-up finish and a spot in the Mythical Team.

The 5-foot-11 guard elevated his game even further in the National Finals, posting 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest as D’Generals reached the Fantastic 8 before bowing to eventual champion Fil-Am Nation.

Known for his shooting touch and perimeter scoring, Del Poso brings much-needed firepower to the JRU program as it continues to bolster its backcourt.

The 19-year-old guard, who carries five years of eligibility, reunites in Shaw with head coach Nani Epondulan and former Red Robins teammates Sean Salvador and Allan Laurenaria, adding familiarity to an already promising Heavy Bombers core.
