NYGEL Gonzales will be out for the upcoming NCAA Season 102 after suffering an ACL injury to his right knee.
San Beda's 6-foot-2 guard from Lipa City underwent surgery on Wednesday after hurting his knee in an inter-town game in Batangas last month.
"Heartbreaking siyempre to miss the season, pero I believe na lesson ito na tinuturo sa akin ng buhay," he said.
For now, Gonzales is shifting his attention to rehabilitation, as he looks to come back stronger for his third season of eligibility by next year.
"Focus lang sa recovery now and I’m committed to coming back stronger, and wiser," he said.

Coach Yuri Escueta is also hoping that this episode serves as a lesson for players to express caution whenever they play outside of the school premises.

It's a big blow to the Red Lions's title retention bid, with the point guard duties now being given to the likes of Jimmy Reyes, Penny Estacio, and rookie Maco Dabao.
Gonzales averaged 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists last Season 101 and was a vital part of San Beda's championship run last year.
