SAN Beda was back to its a-game on both ends off the floor as it got back on the NCAA Season 102 winning track after demolishing San Sebastian, 85-55, Friday at the Filoil Center in San Juan.
After a tight first quarter, the Red Lions put on the clamps from that point forward while discovering their shooting touch as the game went on as Aldous Torculas, Dan Marcelo and Bonzi Bonzalida all finding their range from downtown.
Torculas redeemed himself after a quiet night in their loss against the Mapua Cardinals, firing 18 points anchored on three triples as the Red Lions improved to 3-2.
"Sinabi samin ni coach Yuri before mag-start yung game na we should be grateful na nilalaro namin yung game na gustong gusto namin," Torculas said.
"Gusto rin talaga namin manalo. Although yung first half medyo dikit yung score, yung bawi namin ng second half ayun ang mas important e."
Torculas joined hands with Bonzalida, Marcelo and Jomel Puno as they went on a 19-4 run to bridge the third and fourth period as the Red Lions cruised to the comfortable finish.
No player breached double-digits other than Torculas, but five players scored at least seven points, with Jimmy Reyes adding nine, Bonzalida, Marcelo and Puno chipping in eight apiece while Bismarck Lina finished with seven.
The Red Lions' size and physicality was simply too much, dominating the Stags on the boards 47-34 — resulting to a total of 51 free throws for San Beda, a record for most number of attempts from the line this season.
Kent Bacani led the now 0-5 Stags with 15 points while Nurben Muktimar added 11.
