San Beda bolsters lineup with Fil-Canadian guard Brendon Ocampo

Red Lions team manager says 6-1 guard 'reminds me of a young Bolick'
    Sep 14, 2020

SAN Beda added another weapon to its lineup with the acquisition of Fil-Canadian off-guard Brendon Ocampo.

Red Lions team manager Jude Roque likened the 19-year-old from Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School in Toronto to former Red Lions star Robert Bolick.

"He reminds me of a young Bolick. Hopefully, he matures like Robert," he said of the 6-foot-1 prospect.

Ocampo suited up for Durham Crossover Canada in the 2019 NBTC National Finals, making it to as far as the quarterfinals.

"We saw him in NBTC last year and he has very good potential," said Roque.

Ocampo will be coming in as a rookie and is eligible to play all five years, starting this NCAA Season 96.

Lucky for him, he will have a chance to be guided by fellow Fil-Canadian and last year's Mythical Team member James Canlas in this new chapter in of his career at San Beda.

"(Ocampo) is the best here in his age group," said Durham Crossover coach Mike Cruz. "He's a very versatile player that can slash and shoot, and he plays with a lot of heart and has always been a gritty player."
