SAN Sebastian got back to its winning ways in the NCAA Season 94 as it fended off a tough fighting Jose Rizal University, 86-76, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Heavy Bombers showed a little more fight this time compared to their previous outing, cutting the Stags’ lead to six points late in the fourth quarter. But RK Ilagan and Michael Calisaan hit the big baskets to keep the Heavy Bombers at bay and the Stags improved to 2-2 for the tournament.

Alvin Capobres led the Stags’ hot start and posted a 51-34 lead at the half.

“Sa tingin ko championship game itong JRU. Medyo bago rin ang team ng JRU. Marami rin nawala sa amin. Atleast maganda naman, both teams naglaro,” said Macaraya.

“No. 1 (improvement) is yung rebounding namin. Last game tambak kami sa rebounding so nakabawi kami. Field goal namin tumaas,” he added.
