RHAYYAN Amsali is looking forward to playing for San Beda in the NCAA after leaving National University.

Amsali transferred to San Beda after three seasons with the NU Bullpups, who won the UAAP Season 78 juniors crown and finished runners-up the past two seasons.

The 17-year-old Amsali said he chose San Beda because he believes the school, with its proven track record, can give him the best opportunity to improve as a player.

“I think San Beda will be able to train me harder and teach me more things that I have to keep in mind while playing,” said the 6-4 forward.

“I need it po para mas gumaling ang skills playing both in defense and offense,” said Amsali.

The Batang Gilas mainstay's move to the NCAA will allow him to play two more years in high school with the Red Cubs, whereas he will have to undergo residency had he stayed in the UAAP.

That swayed his decision to move to San Beda, Amsali said.

“If I stayed in NU, I would only have one more year to play in the UAAP. I need to work hard in preparation for what’s coming ahead of me. Sa NCAA po, makakalaro na ako agad for two years in senior high,” said Amsali.

Amsali said he plans to attend San Beda practices this week to join preparations for NCAA Season 93.

“Wala naman po ‘yan either nasa UAAP po ako or NCAA po. Ang importante po, ma-train more po ako at maging preparation ko po sa college,” said Amsali.
