    Former Batang Gilas Renzo Navarro completes move to Lyceum from San Sebastian

    Renzo Navarro is already playing for Lyceum in preseason tournaments.

    LYCEUM acquired another building block in its bid to build an NCAA champion team in the next few years with the transfer of Renzo Navarro, a former Batang Gilas cager.

    The 20-year-old Navarro, son of former San Sebastian cager Nandy, declined to reveal the reason for his decision to move to his third school after playing for La Salle in his first year in college.

    “That’s water under the bridge for me now for me and my family. What we like to remember and to treasure are the good memories we had being a Sebastinian. From my dad winning a championship back in the 1980s to me playing in the juniors and seniors division with my older brother and dad on the sidelines.

    “More than enough reason to be thankful sa OAR fathers. I wish the Golden Stags program all the best,” said the former Batang Gilas standout.

    The point guard is lready playing for the Pirates in preseason tournaments although he will need to serve a one-year residency before being eligible for Season 95 of the NCAA in 2019.

      Navarro said he can still play for three more years of college ball based on league rules.

      “Proud to say na nasa LPU na po ako. Sobrang grateful for the trust and confidence na binibigay sa akin ng management and ng coaches especially coach Topex,” said Navarro.

      Navarro admitted the move was not without second thoughts.

      “I honestly thought na tapos na ako sa basketball. Natakot ako sa sasabihin at iisipin ng iba kasi third school ko na in four years. I was already exploring options outside basketball. Pero may mga tao na hindi tumigil maniwala at sumuporta sa akin. What would it look like if I were to give up on them?

      “With the overwhelming support na nakukuha ko, slowly i-build ko ulit ‘yung dream ko. But this time, not for myself, but hopefully to inspire others to keep pressing forward despite adversity,” said Navarro.
