PRINCE Eze was easily the most dominant player in the NCAA last season but had his MVP hopes dampened after they won just a total of four games in that horror campaign for Perpetual Help.
Playing the best team in the league this time, Eze once again performed like a true MVP – and most importantly got the win.
The graduating center drained the game-winning basket as the Altas came away with the biggest shocker of the season, pulling the upset rug on the Lyceum Pirates, 83-81 last Friday.
Aside from the game-winner, Eze also had a monster statline across the board as he finished with 25 points, 23 rebounds and two blocks in the win.
His performance certainly didn’t go unnoticed by his head coach Frankie Lim.
“Big big game by Eze of course. He had MVP stats again tonight,” Lim said curtly after the game.
Despite losing big against these Pirates in the first round, Eze’s faith never wavered as he always believed they could catch a big fish in this conference.
Needing to do just that to bolster their hopes for a Final Four appearance, the opportunity finally presented itself and Eze was quick to pounce.
“I know it’s possible. I know it’s possible. Because I mean, our last game, I saw something in our last game, the defense we played, I saw a lot of things,” said Eze.
“With that, like I said to you, we have a lot of rookies in our team so we just have to follow the coaches which tells us what to do. We just keep on fighting, we keep on fighting we were never down.”
