PRINCE Eze is enjoying a breakout season in the NCAA Season 94 and is giving all the credit to his new coach Frankie Lim.

The 6-foot-8 Nigerian came up with a huge game in Perpetual’s 76-74 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College, needing just one block to complete a triple double, posting 15 points and 22 rebounds.

The entry of Lim definitely jolted Eze’s confidence this season, especially after a rocky relationship last year with then coach Nose Omorogbe.

Eze didn’t hold back in describing the difference from last season to this one.

“Last year, our coach is just a joke man. Our coach is not pushing us. He’s just there. Now we have great coach, he’s telling us what to do. He’s like a father to us. I don’t feel like practice is a stress anymore, practice is like going to my family,” said Eze.

“Even if I’m not feeling well, I still go to practice but last season I don’t think I want to go there because I might fight the coach or something,” he added. “Now coach Frankie always talk to us. If you don’t feel good, he asks you to stay back, like today, he asked me not to practice tomorrow.”

One huge difference this season is how Lim works into the little details from their mistakes last year.

“He tried to make us know all of our mistakes last season. We lose one point because of free throws, now I work on my free throws, I shoot 100 free throws per day,” Eze said.

“Every practice, he reminds me to shoot more free throws, work on my hook shots, he reminds me, sometimes I’m gonna play good but we’ll still lose,” he added.

It’s evident with the way Perpetual has been playing, hanging tough against San Beda in the opener before racking up two straight wins against Letran and EAC.

But for Eze, there is still a lot of things to work on.

“We’re getting our confidence back. We won close games, so we need to work harder to make it a bigger margin. It’s not gonna be easy but we’ll keep on working on it. Maybe next time I should get a triple-double so it would be enough.”
