A second straight win for Mapua, a second straight ejection for a Cardinal player.
Marc Igliane was ejected for a disqualifying foul following a dangerous contact against an airborne Jhearald Manacho in the first half of the game between the Cardinals and the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-4 Igliane extended out his rear as Manacho took off for a layup, eventually sending the EAC forward to land hard on the side of his back.
The incident happened with 5:10 to go in the second quarter and the Cardinals holding a slim 34-31 lead.

Manacho managed to stand up following the physical play, but it was not enough for Igliane not to be ejected out of the game.
Igliane is expected to be meted a one-game suspension and won’t be around when Mapua plays Letran on Friday in the ‘Battle of Intramuros.”
The Cardinals already played the Generals without another big man in John Jabonete, who served his one game suspension for elbowing Karl De Jesus of Jose Rizal University on the head during their game last Sunday.
Jabonete, however, is expected to play for the Cardinals against the Knights.
Mapua head coach Randy Alcantara lamented losing two of his bigs due to unsportsmanlike fouls.
“Sabi ko nga (sa mga players), yung mga ganung bagay na unsportsmanlike, iwasan na talaga. Pero andun na, kaya dapat i-ready lang yung ibang players to step up,” said Alcantara.
Despite losing both Jabonete and Igliane, the Cardinals went to win over the Heavy Bombers, 75-71, and the Generals, 82-79.
It’s been a hectic week for Mapua as it will play its third game in seven days on Friday against Letran, before facing the defending champion San Beda Red Lions on Sunday.
The Cardinals currently occupy solo second in the standings with an 8-3 record.
