LYCEUM continued to dodge another bullet as the NCAA Season 93 hits its home stretch.

The Pirates survived a late explosion from Allyn Bulanadi to remain unscathed after 15 games with a gutsy 78-73 win over the grizzled San Sebastian Stags on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center.

CJ Perez put up his best performance in a Lyceum uniform against none other than his former school as he finished with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals.

Perez, who fell one point shy of tying his NCAA career high at 29, scored nine points to start the fourth and create a buffer for the league leaders.

Bulanadi then came to life, scoring eight straight points, the last of which to draw the Stags to within one, 73-74 with 1:43 remaining.

Two free throws from Mike Nzeusseu 16 seconds later gave the Pirates some breathing space as the Stags missed one opportunity after another to tie the game.

The dagger came when an RK Ilagan miss resulted to a JC Marcelino fastbreak lay-up to give the Pirates a 78-73 lead with 19 ticks to go.

"Again credit goes to the players for making my job easier. I'm just proud with the way we just stood our ground," Lyceum coach Topex Robinson.

"We really have to be mentally tough. What's more than physical toughness is the mental. At the end of the day, it's the final score that matters," he added.

Three other Pirates scored 11 points apiece in Nzeusseu, who notched a double-double with 11 boards, along with MJ Ayaay and Marcelino.
