FRANKIE Lim may have been placed "on leave" by the Perpetual management, but the Altas players made sure that the four-time NCAA champion coach is still with the team in spirit.

Ben Adamos, together with a number of his teammates, dedicated the game to their beleaguered mentor, inscribing the initials "CFL" and "LIM" in their soles.

"Respect lang," the 6-foot-6 center shared as Perpetual played its first game without Lim.

To say that the situation caught the team off guard should be considered as a massive understatement, especially for Adamos who was recruited by Lim to transfer from San Beda to Perpetual.

"Medyo nagulat din ako," he shared. "Tatay-tatayan ko kasi si coach Frankie kasi siya ang nag-recruit sa akin dito."

The Altas' disappointing 2-5 start in the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball tournament, including a 46-point whipping at the hands of San Beda, 102-56, last Friday, were cited as big reasons that led to Lim's downfall.

But as tough as the situation was, Adamos and company knew that they had to do their job, more so for interim coach Myk Saguiguit.

"Kinausap ko din si coach Myk. Sabi ko, 'Coach, ikaw yung nakakakilala sa amin din lahat halos. Ikaw yung pangalawa na sinusunod namin nung nandoon pa si coach Frankie.' In-advice kami ni coach Myk na talagang kailangan naming mag-move on na dahil wala na talaga eh," he said.

Perpetual did just that, ending its struggles with a tough 88-87 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Tuesday.

"Yung mindset ko lang, ready ako sa game simula ng first quarter, so talagang binigay ko lang yung best ko," said Adamos, who fired a double-double with his 11 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocks.

Regardless of what the future awaits for Perpetual and its complicated coaching situation, Adamos vowed that the Altas will just do their job hoping that better days are still ahead of them.

"Kailangan buhos na talaga kasi si coach Myk, kailangan naming suportahan, lalo na yung school," he said.
