PERPETUAL racked up its second straight win in the NCAA Season 94 as it played spoilers to home squad Emilio Aguinaldo College, 76-74, on Thursday in Manila.
The Altas survived a late scare from the home team after the Generals threatened to steal one from them in the final moments of the game.
Leading by six with 25 seconds to go, the Altas let their guard down a bit as Jeric Diego scored a quick two, before Maui Cruz intercepted an AJ Coronel pass — resulting into a three pointer to trim the lead to just one with 14 seconds to go.
A Kim Aurin split left the door wide open for the Generals, but the Jerome Garcia flubbed the potential game tying basket at the buzzer.
"Ang feeling ko yung Generals played with a lot of confidence. Siyempre andito sila sa bahay nila, we just couldn’t humiliate them here. Grabeng effort ang pinapakita nila," said Perpetual head coach Frankie Lim.
"In the end, went down to making stops. We made a stop sa kanilang isolation, and ayun, nanalo," he added.
Prince Eze was a shot block away from a triple-double as he finished with 15 points, 22 rebounds and nine blocks while Edgar Charcos continued his stellar play as he top scored with 22 points and three assists.
Kim Aurin also flirted wuth a triple double for Perpetual as he finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as Tonton Petralta added 11 points for the Altas added improved to 2-1.
Cruz led the Generals with 18 points as they dropped to 0-3 for the tournament.
