LYCEUM completed a first round, nine-game sweep of the NCAA Season 93 in a blowout win after cruising past hapless Mapua University, 97-74, on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center.
CJ Perez fired in 16 of his 18 points in the first half to take the fight out of the Cardinals early.
With the prolific Perez starting on fire, the Pirates jumped to a 22-8 lead in the first quarter and never let up in a game that pretty much looked like most of their matches this season.
Perez' lone basket in the second half gave the Pirates their biggest lead of the game, 78-46, with less than a minute to go in the third quarter.
The Pirates then cruised to the comfortable victory with the Cardinals never putting up a semblance of a fight until the final buzzer.
"As much as okay sana, we have nine more games to play. We're gonna take this win. It's always nice to go into a long break with the win," said head coach Topex Robinson, who returned from a one-game suspension.
"We always honor the game. We remind them that we're not playing against Mapua, we're playing ourselves. We just want to give our best and that's how we honor the game," he added.
Perez added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals as Wilson Baltazar chipped in 12 points for the Pirates, which had six more players with at least six points.
Christian Bunag led the Cardinals with 17 points and 14 rebounds, whose injury woes continued in this game.
Already playing minus star guard Andoy Estrella, the Cardinals lost big man Kim Magboo to an injury early in the first.
The defeat was Mapua's seventh straight as they dropped to 1-7.
