LETRAN and big man Pao Javillonar got a minor reprieve a day before the NCAA Season 100 officially kicks off.
The NCAA Management Committee decided to reduce to a two-game ban the suspension it meted out on the 6-foot-5 Javillonar as per SPIN.ph sources for playing in an invitational tournament in Davao last July.
The veteran big man likewise will have to do community service as part of his penalty.

The suspension was initially pegged at three games, before Letran decided to appeal the case.
As things stand now, Javillonar will only now miss the Knights’ opening game against San Sebasatian on Sunday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, and opposite Jose Rizal University on Sept. 13 at the same venue in San Juan.

Still, the suspension meant Javillonar, a part of three Letran NCAA men’s basketball champion teams in the past, will no longer be eligible for the MVP award.
But at least he gets to play his first game of the season on Sept. 17 against Arellano as he tries to help the Knights in their redemption tour following a dismal finish in Season 99 when they only managed to win two of 18 games.
