FORMER UST Tigers and Talk 'N Text forward Emmerson Oreta was appointed new commissioner of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as Kenneth Duremdes was elevated to league president, the league announced on Saturday.
Another former PBA player, Zaldy Realubit, returns as head of operations in the latest leadership shuffle made the MPBL founder Manny Pacquiao on Friday.
Duremdes, 51, served as the MPBL's second commissioner after Snow Badua since the regional league's launch in 2017. The 51-year old former PBA MVP's tenure saw the league grow to 30 teams by last season.
Prior to his appointment, Oreta served as the head of operations.
