INSTEAD of having one guest of honor to formally open the season, NCAA Season 93 host San Sebastian decided to honor outstanding alumni of the member schools.
Members of the PBA 40 Greatest Players led the honorees in Kerby Raymundo of Letran, Philip Cezar and Vergel Meneses of Jose Rizal University and Atoy Co of Mapua.
Past players who've brought glory to their respective schools were also feted, namely Arellano University’s Jiovani Jalalon and Nard Pinto, College of St. Benilde’s Jonathan Grey and Sunday Salvacion, Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Christ Mejos and Ariel Sison, Lyceum of the Philippines University’s Gary David, San Sebastian College-Recoletos’ Rommel Adducul, Egay Macaraya, and Boy Mora, Mapua’s Chito Victolero, and Letran’s Raymond Almazan.
"The purpose of this is to acknowledge the fruit of the NCAA," said NCAA Policy Board President Nemesio Tolentin of San Sebastian.
"This time we invited the icons of their institution because their presence is more than the words to be given by a certain visitor. Also, we also recognized their contributions to their fields," he added.
People who excelled from other fields were also given recognition such as businessman James Tan Sy from San Beda College, board topnotcher Dr. Karl Mercader, military officer Rosendo Moro Dial from University of Perpetual Help and DJ Jhaiho from LPU.
