EMILIO Aguinaldo College coach Ariel Sison had some fighting words as his squad prepares to host the red-hot Lyceum in the NCAA on Tour on Thursday in its fancied sports facility in Paco, Manila.
The Pirates can try and come in to pillage their turf, but these Generals will be ready to give them hell.
"We will not allow them to beat us on our home court," Sison proudly stated after claiming their third win in five games last Tuesday at the expense of Arellano University.
Lyceum has been an intimidating team in Season 93, winning all of their six games emphatically. But with big man Hamadou Laminou injured, Sison is doing all he can to fire up his EAC team.
The low-key drillmaster has also seen Sidney Onwubere emerge as his biggest weapon to try and match Lyceum's blitzkrieg led by CJ Perez and the Pirates’ tireless backcourt pair of JC and JV Marcelino.
But Sison knows Onwubere needs all the help he can get from Juju Bautista, Jerome Garcia and Francis Munsayac to try and counter every attempt of the Pirates to sustain their surge.
"We are prepared for their trap. I have these guys, I know they will deliver for the team, so for me, I'll just pray hard, I'll tell our guys to pray hard also, and prepare for tomorrow and be ready for Thursday," he said.
Sison can take solace in the fact that they have beaten Lyceum before. Though he knows that he this is a far different team now, that type of psychological edge might just be what's needed to pull off the biggest upset in the tournament.
"We will do everything. We will do everything. I don't know what to do now, but what we have in mind is, just the way we beat them last year. I'm going to review how we beat them last year, maybe that will be enough to beat LPU this coming Thursday," he said
