THREE networks are in the running to be the new home of the NCAA basketball games once the action resumes.

League insiders told Spin.ph that One Sports, CNN Philippines, and GMA are among those being considered as the NCAA ramps up talks with potential new television partners after the shutdown of longtime broadcaster ABS-CBN.

"Kinakausap pa namin sila, pero tinitignan namin ano 'yung pinakamaganda para sa liga," the source said.

Of the three, One Sports is easily the best known in terms of basketball content with its sports arm, previously named Sports5/ ESPN5, being the home of the PBA since 2011 and the NBA since late-July.

Meanwhile, CNN Philippines has dabbled in broadcasting sports content, with the network taking the mantle in the blocktime telecast of the NBA games in the early parts of the 2019-20 season after the expiration of the broadcast rights shared by Solar Entertainment and ABS-CBN Sports.

GMA is reportedly trying its hat in broadcasting sports content with talks of rebranding GMA News TV into a sports channel. The network previously carried Shakey's V-League games from 2013 to 2015.

All three have also done their part in broadcasting the 30th Southeast Asian Games last year.

The NCAA has formally terminated its 10-year partnership with ABS-CBN this week after the TV network failed to secure a new legislative franchise from the Congress.

ABS-CBN was the home of the league for the past five years, with the current deal supposed to last until NCAA Season 100 in 2025.

The league earlier pencilled the resumption of NCAA Season 96 for the first quarter of 2021, granting that the situation with the COVID-19 in the country gets better.
