SAN Sebastian ripped College of St. Benilde, 101-71, for its second straight win in NCAA Season 93 on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Michael Calisaan scored 14 of his 20 points in the final quarter as the Stags pummeled the Blazers, posting the best scoring output in the tournament so far and the first to breach the century mark.
The Stags started strong, with sophomore forward Alfren Gayosa carving up the Benilde defense early with his gutsy drives.
San Sebastian led 96-60 and cruised to their third win in six games.
Despite the dominant win, San Sebastian head coach Egay Macaraya still believes that they have a long way to go as far as contending is concerned.
"Hindi naman sa nakukuha (yung momentum). Masyado naman overrated yung statement. Ang sa amin lang naman is at least maganda yung shooting percentage namin ngayon, ang ganda ng score," said Macaraya.
"Ang laki ng binibigay samin ng CSB. Ang laki ng three points namin ngayon. I guess that was the key of the game – pumapasok yung mga three points namin and we also played good defense to them," he added.
Gayosa scored all of his 15 points in the first half to set the tone for the Stags which took an early 16 point lead and never let up.
Allyn Bulanadi added 13 for the Stags which shot 54.5 percent from the field, making 36 of their 66 attempts.
It was a letdown for the Blazers who just a few days earlier notched their first in-court victory at the expense of Mapua University.
Unique Naboa led the Blazers with 17 points who suffered their fifth loss against two wins after playing their fourth game in two weeks.
