MAPUA got contributions from nearly everyone as it ransacked Jose Rizal University in its home floor 72-60 in the first NCAA on Tour of Season 94 on Thursday.
Laurenz Victoria led that balanced attack with 11 points as rookies Warren Bonifacio and Eric Jabel also played big to lead the Cardinals in their season opener.
Bonifacio went a rebound a win from a double-double as he finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, as Jabel scored seven of his nine in the final six minutes of the game to continuously fend off the Bombers.
"I'm happy that we were able to do dun sa practice namin. Nagpe-press ang JRU pero tumigil sila kasi lagi kaming nasscore," said Mapua coach Atoy Co.
Despite the big games from both his rookies, Co believes that they still haven't scratched the surface of their potential and asks more from them.
"I am not satisfied yet. Alam ko na they can play so much better than how they performed today," Co added.
Cedric Pelayo, Justin Serrano, and Exie Biteng added eight points apiece as Noah Lugo and Arvin Gamboa combined for 12 to further highlight Mapua's balanced attack.
RJ David led the Heavy Bombers with 12 points as Jed Mendoza finished with 11 markers and five assists in the loss.
