LYCEUM of the Philippines University Pirates snapped a three-game skid, surviving the Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers, 99-96, in overtime in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at FilOil EcoOil Centre on Tuesday.

Enoch Valdez gave the Pirates the lead, 98-96, after a corner three assisted by Vince Cunanan with 28.8 seconds remaining in overtime period.
Valdez would seal the deal for the Pirates after going one-for-two from the charity stripe to get back in the win column, picking up their seventh win in ten games, while the Bombers dropped to 6-4.
The Heavy Bombers took control of the fourth quarter, up 87-83 in the dying seconds, but Cunanan and Shawn Umali scored back-to-back layups with 46.8 seconds remaining to tie the game 87-all.
A baseline drive by Marwin Dionisio could have given the Heavy Bombers the win, but was denied by Umali sending the game into overtime.
Cunanan led the scoring for Lyceum of the Philippines University with 20 points, four rebounds, and nine assists, while Valdez finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and eight assists.
Joshua Guiab scored a double-double 21 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists, while Agem Miranda scored 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
