LYCEUM wing JM Bravo is now conscious, but remains under observation after suffering a concussion late in their NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament game against Arellano on Saturday.

NCAA Management Committee (ManCom) Chair Herc Callanta personally talked to Bravo through video call from Cardinal Santos Medical Center where the latter is currently confined after losing consciousness.

In the last eight seconds of the Pirates' game at the Filoil EcoOil Centre, Bravo got hit on the jaw by Renzo Abiera's head.

Callanta described the incident to be similar to a boxer being knocked out hard in the ring.

“Definitely, he had concussions. He sustained a blow when heads collided with his jaw. So in other words, para siyang na-knockout with a single punch,” said the NCAA official from Lyceum.

And didn’t help that Bravo had a bad fall to the floor following the collision.

“So he convulsed and he had a seizure. And that’s what’s scary,” Callanta added.

Bravo will stay overnight in the hospital for further observation.

"He will be kept there (hospital) for overnight observation just to make sure no untoward happening takes place," according to Callanta.

The Lyceum athletic director added Bravo was revived after three to five minutes and already conscious on the way to nearby medical facility.

A few hours later, Callanta managed to personally talk to the Pirates stalwart through video call.

"He was already smiling, although he can still feel a little bit of headache and dizziness. But that's common." he added.

In a photo sent by Bravo to Callanta and the ManCom, the Lyceum player gave a thumbs up sign as proof that he's now feeling a bit ok.

Prior to the incident, Bravo had 17 points and eight rebounds in the game which the Pirates eventually lost, 91-86.
