LYCEUM and San Beda rekindle its rivalry as the two unbeaten squads go at it for the first time in the NCAA Season 94 on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
This is the first time that the two teams will be facing each other in the NCAA after the Red Lions rained on the Pirates’ parade last season by sweeping the finals.
But coach Boyet Fernandez knows that this is a different team compared to last year.
"They're much more experienced now. I can say that they're a whole lot different now from last season," said Fernandez as his squad shoots for its eighth win in as many tries
"They know how to win championships now. All that experience winning the D-League and PCCL, it's definitely showing with how they're playing," he added.
The Red Lions have been as methodical as ever, turning on the heat when needed - evident in their clutch wins over Letran and San Sebastian.
Lyceum coach Topex Robinson knows the elims game against San Beda is a good gauge of their own progress, but he has learned the lesson from last season.
"The nice thing about playing San Beda is there's so much respect with each other and you know that both teams can beat each other so it's gonna be exciting," Robinson said as the Pirates gun for a first-round sweep.
"The thing is, it's always nice to play against them but we have many games left to polish what we have," he added.
In the first game, Letran looks to snap a two-game skid when it tackles another sliding team in Mapua.
The Knights (4-3) dropped close ones against San Beda and Lyceum and they know that they have to stop the bleeding soon.
"Kailangan namin makuha ang Mapua. Most important now is to get back and start over," Napa said.
The Cardinals (2-6) on the other hand are on an alarming four-game slide after a solid start.
