AFTER a flawless first round, Lyceum looks to keep pushing for perfection as it opens the second half of the NCAA Season 93 against the struggling Mapua on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Pirates will be targeting their 10th win in as many games at the expense of the hapless Cardinals, who have lost eight straight after winning their opener against Letran.
Lyceum coach Topex Robinson challenged his players to rise above complacency after an impressive first round where they took the league by storm.
MVP race contenders CJ Perez and Mike Nzeusseu are expected to lead the run for the Pirates, who have lived up to their preseason title favorite tag.
"The nice thing about this group is that they wanna play for each other. The team always comes first," said Robinson.
"The challenge now is finding that consistency and playing the game the right way regardless of who we face," he added.
San Beda (8-1), on the other hand, will be gunning for their seventh straight win when they take on College of St. Benilde (2-7) in the opener at 2 p.m.
The defending champions are coming off a 95-70 destruction of Arellano in their final game day in a match where they finally regained championship form. And Red Lions head coach Boyet Fernandez hopes that his team stays fired up and hungry in the second round.
"Mindset namin is to take care of ourselves, win games that we have to win, panalunin games namin and stay away from teams behind us," said Fernandez.
"As I always say, we always take good care of ourselves and look forward on winning more games in order for us to be ready for LPU."
