LYCEUM got a measure of redemption the hard way, getting back at Arellano, 93-90, on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Mike Nzeusseu had 23 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks as the Pirates scored their seventh win in 10 games.
Twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino helped Lyceum create breathing room, getting on their running shoes to turn a slim 81-79 lead to an 88-79 advantage with 2:39 to play.
The Pirates, however, were tested as they saw their nine-point lead dissipate as Kent Salado brought the Chiefs within two, 92-90, with 21.7 ticks left.
Reymar Caduyac split his freebies to keep the door wide open for the Chiefs, but Salado muffed his trey at the waning seconds as the Lyceum pulled off the squeaker.
"We're gonna take this win no matter how ugly it is," sighed coach Topex Robinson as the Intramuros side atoned for its 87-81 first round defeat to Arellano last August 23.
Jaycee also collected 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds, while Jayvee got 10 points, three boards, and three dimes for the Pirates.
Salado finished with 21 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals, but could not play the role of the hero for the Chiefs in the endgame as they fell to 2-8, just aove cellar-dwelling Emilio Aguinaldo College.
Dariel Bayla and Archie Concepcion had 12 points each for Arellano.
