JOSE Rizal University has formally appointed Louie Gonzalez as head coach of the Heavy Bombers, the school announced on Saturday.
JRU said Gonzalez actually took over the position on April 1 as Vergel Meneses stepped down to run for mayor of Bulakan, Bulacan.
The university also said Eddie Laure, Eric Dela Cuesta, Nixon Ramos and JRU juniors head coach Vic Lazaro will be Gonzalez’s assistants, while Glen Capacio will serve as an active consultant.
Gonzalez has over two decades of coaching experience in different leagues as well as in grassroots level. He recently coached La Salle, missing the Final Four after losing to Far Eastern University in a playoff.
The Heavy Bombers are set to play in the Filoil preseason tournament next month.
