LETRAN locked up the third seed in the Final Four of the NCAA Season 95 seniors basketball tournament with an 87-76 come-from-behind win over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Larry Muyang led the fightback with a double-double performance of 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Knights ended the eliminations at 12-6.
But it wasn't an easy victory as Letran fought back from 21-points down, 39-18, in the second quarter.
Jerrick Balanza poured seven of his 20 points in the third quarter where the Knights got back in the game, 56-55, and set up the see-saw battle in the payoff period.
"Binalik namin yung pinag-usapan namin the past few days. Lahat naman gusto nasa top, pero ito yung napuntahan namin. Sinasabi ko na lang sa team na it’s not about how you start but how we finish the season," said coach Bonnie Tan.
Bonbon Batiller added 15 points and four assists, while Fran Yu had 10 points, four boards and three rebounds.
It is still uncertain which team Letran will face in the semifinals, with the ongoing San Beda-Lyceum game to decide whether it will be a Final Four or a step-ladder format.
"Hindi natin hawak fate natin pero again, sinasabi namin last game namin ito and we want to end it on a high note," said Tan.
Jethro Mendoza carried the Generals with 26 points on a 6-of-12 shooting from threes, while JP Maguliano had 13 points and nine rebounds.
EAC ended the season at 4-14, the same record it had last year.
