LETRAN coach Jeff Napa believes that the Knights are more than capable of living up to heightened expectations from a big corporate sponsor.
The Knights forged a partnership with San Miguel Corporation in February for NCAA Season 94 and though head coach Jeff Napa still won’t reveal the extent of the sponsorship, he says it gave the Knights a big boost in confidence.
"Malaki ang difference (from last season) kasi andyan sila to support all the way ng hindi ka iiwan," said Napa.
"Siyempre yung confidence ng mga bata. Lalo yun tumaas nung pumasok ang SMC. Kaya pasalamat kami kay boss RSA (Ramon S. Ang) and boss Al (Chua)," he added.
It's definitely showing now with the way they've been performing as they have won three straight after a shock loss to Perpetual Help to open the season.
The last time the Knights had a backer this big in their program was back in 2015 when Manny Pacquiao supported the squad.
The Knights went all the way to win the title.
SMC isn't really putting added pressure on them, according to Napa, which makes it much easier for the Knights to focus on their job.
"Lagi naman may pressure basta ang advise lang ni boss Al (Chua) sa amin maglaro lang ang mga bata at sa part ko sa coaching just do my best and kung ano yung kung sa tingin ko yung tama, yun ang gawin ko."
