LETRAN has formally welcomed Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso, and Ira Bataller to its camp.
Knights coach Bonnie Tan formalized the transfer of his three new recruits on Tuesday in the presence of San Miguel sports director and the school's special assistant to the rector for sports development, Alfrancis Chua.
"We are proud to add Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso, and Ira Bataller to our program," said the soft-spoken Tan, a former UST player himself.
"Being Thomasians, coach Alfrancis Chua and I did not turn a blind eye when these three young players were knocking and asking if Letran could be their new home. After all, Letran and UST are sister schools."
Spin.ph reported that the three agreed to move to Letran on Monday, ending days of speculation after they all dropped out from University of Santo Tomas last week in the aftermath of the school's controversial Bicol bubble training.
Now, they found a new home in another Dominican-ran school in Letran.
"Their addition is certainly a huge boost to our program as they also bring their experiences to our championship core. Our team management, staff, and I have also done our homework on how we can easily integrate them into our team," said Tan.
"We definitely can't wait to work with them once we can return to the gym. But for now, we will guide them to becoming true Letranistas."
The Knights, who have won the NCAA Season 95 crown, are intent on keeping their place at the pinnacle of the league as they remain as the team-to-beat ahead of the next season.
