LA Tenorio is one of the most reliable performers come crunch time in the PBA.
But the Ginebra star guard said the commentator's job is an altogether different matter, admitting he was a lot more nervous on the booth during his television debut than he was at any time he was on the court.
“Actually, mas kinabahan ako sa first game na to compared sa mga games namin,” said the former Ateneo Blue Eagles star during his maiden appearance as a commentator in ABS-CBN Sports' coverage of the NCAA games.
Tenorio, 34, said he never had any second thoughts when he was offered the opportunity, adding he hopes to learn the ropes from some of the veteran commentators in the NCAA panel.
"Di nga ako nag dalawang isip nung in-offer. Before the start of the NCAA kinontak ako ni sir Mico Halili. It’s a different experience for me. Analyzing the game,” Tenorio said. “I’m very happy and thankful to the NCAA family for giving me this opportunity."
“Lahat sila I was watching them every game, natuto ako sa kanila. Sila Anton (Roxas), sila Andrei (Felix), sila of course sir Mico Halili. Hopefully marami akong matutunan sa kanila sa mga susunod na games,” he added.
Tenorio said the TV gig is never tiring. Quite the contrary, he added, aside from giving him a chance to return to his roots.
“It’s a challenge for me to do this. I’m happy and excited every game. Sinasabi ng mga tao, parang napapagod ako, pero mas nare-relax ako to see these players play and parang nami-miss ko yung college basketball din e.”
After a jittery start, the former Gilas mainstay vowed to be better. Better believe him.
I’ll be better next time. First time, medyo nabubulol. I’ll be better next time. I hope makatrabaho ko lahat ng kapamilya ko sa NCAA,” Tenorio said.
