ANTIPOLO - Letran coach Bonnie Tan was the least surprised to see King Caralipio break out with a final NCAA season highlighted by Mythical Team selection and a Finals MVP award.
"Alam naman ni King na when he started with the team talaga, yung playing time niya very limited lalo na noong last year na andito sa atin yung Rookie-MVP natin," the mentor said, referring to Rhenz Abando.

The 6-2 forward spent last season in the shadows of both Abando and Jeo Ambohot. But with those guys gone, it was Caralipio's turn to seize the spotligh with a game that was molded by sheer hard work.
"Parating matiyaga naman ito eh and alam namin kung anong binibigay nito sa loob ng court because of yung hard work niya," said Tan.
Caralipio, 25, saved his best for last, unloading 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists to cap off his college career with an 81-67 victory for Letran over St. Benilde on Sunday to complete a rare three-peat.
"Sobrang sarap po. Sobrang blessed na nakuha namin dito yung championship," said Caralipino.
Tan, though, reminded Caralipio that he deserved everything he gained.
"Walang malas doon sa hard work and sa pasensiya," said the Knights said. "I'm happy for King, playing his last season niya, nag-Finals MVP pa. But again, it's a bonus lang."
