KENT Salado suffered a double whammy after cramps took him out in the final moments of Arellano loss to San Sebastian right in front of the Chiefs home crowd as hosts of the first-ever NCAA On Tour match in Season 93 on Thursday.
Salado finished with 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists for the Chiefs but missed the remaining three minutes of the game as his right leg cramped up late.
"Hindi ko na kaya talaga," said Salado. "Nagpapatayo lang ako after 15 seconds. Sabi ko, masakit eh. Hindi ako nakabalik sa game."
"Pero babawi kami," he added after the Chiefs lost, 56-65.
The Chiefs new main man played down the idea that the team was pressured to win for the home fans, which led to sloppy play early that had them trailing 24-8 after the first quarter.
"Gusto ko lang manalo kasi home court pero hindi ko iniisip na home court advantage kasi bilog ang bola. Gusto ko lang manalo sa game," said Salado.
Arellano managed to cut the deficit to five at halftime, but saw San Sebastian ride a late surge to create separation for good.
More than the flat start, Salado also rued the rebounding disadvantage as San Sebastian had more rebounds, 53-42, in the ballgame.
"Bad start kami at kulang kami sa rebound. Wala kaming rebound, start pa lang, malambot kami. Bad start," said Salado.
