IT was another classic game between Arellano University and Jose Rizal University and in the end, it was once again the Chiefs who emerged victorious.

The Chiefs needed two extensions to fend off a gritty Heavy Bombers squad, 115-109, in the NCAA Season 93 on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The victory allowed the Chiefs to hack out a season sweep over their rivals after escaping the Heavy Bombers, 73-72, also in overtime in the first round.

Zach Nichols drained an improbable three pointer with two seconds left in the first overtime to tow the thriller into another five minutes and offset the heroics of Tey Teodoro.

It was Teodoro who sent the game into the first overtime period after draining back to back triples in regulation.

Before Nichols' game saving three, Teodoro also scored five straight points to give the Heavy Bombers a 100-97 lead.

In the second overtime however, it was all the Chiefs as they opened the period with 10 straight points, highlighted by back-to-back threes by Archie Concepcion and Kraniel Villoria with 3:04 left in the game.

Teodoro then soon fouled out and the Heavy Bombers eventually ran out of steam.

"Sakit sa ulo. It's a game of spurts. They made a run, we made a run. Siguro I guess, it's the stops that made it, we made the stops," said Chiefs coach Jerry Codinera.

"Other than sa prayer shot ni Zach, talagang down na kami talaga, natira niya from how many feet out. We were able to regroup. Sa bench namin, we were able to get some energy," he added.

Rence Alcoriza led the Chiefs with 23 points off the bench as Kent Salado once again slid down the role of a facilitator with 17 points and seven assists.

Lervin Flores also finished with 17 alongside 11 rebounds, as Marwin Taywan and Michael Canete added 15 and 12 respectively.
