Kent Salado finally set for return from ACL injury to give Arellano lift

All eyes on returning star as Chiefs eye ascent in NCAA 95
Jun 30, 2019

NEW Arellano coach Cholo Martin is expecting big things from Kent Salado as the speedy guard makes his comeback this NCAA Season 95.

"He will be a great help to the team because of his leadership and experience. He's already a veteran player who we'll be sure to lean on, especialy in the offensive end," he said.

It has been almost two years since the Cagayan de Oro native wore the Chiefs' familiar gray-and-blue, hurting his MCL back in 2017 before re-injuring the same right knee and also tearing his ACL in early 2018.

More than a year of recovery, though, bodes well for Salado as he looks to rekindle his fire in the NCAA.

Salado averaged 19.1 points, 5.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals back in 2017, where he was vested as Arellano's next great hope following the graduation of Jio Jalalon.

The same could still be said, if Martin's to be asked, with the Chiefs aiming to make a mark this year where they are serving as this season's host.

"We will be competitive this coming season. The composition of the team is a mixture of seasoned veterans that will give us the experience, as well as good rookies," he said.

Joining Salado in Arellano's campaign are last year's Most Improved Player Archie Concepcion, holdovers Rence Alcoriza and Dariel Bayla, and transferees Justin Arana, Alfren Gayosa, Gelo Sablan, and Ronan Santos.
